Mauritania joins the Global Program of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) to prevent and combat terrorist threats against vulnerable targets.

The OCC was present at the consultations organized on October 29-31 on the security and protection of critical infrastructure and “soft” targets or public places in Nouakchott, Mauritania, within the framework of the United Nations Global Program to Combat Terrorist Threats to Vulnerable Targets; organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED). Following these discussions, it was agreed to develop Mauritania's National Action Plan on the protection of vulnerable targets, which will include specific recommendations to support national ministries, entities, and other relevant stakeholders. The consultations were supported by the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nouakchott and financially supported by the Kingdom of Spain.
